Unlock the bootloader on Verizon Pixel 2

0 136

Typically Pixel devices bought directly through Verizon haven’t historically been able to have the bootloader unlocked, which differs from if the same unlocked Pixel 2 device was purchased directly from Google.

However, some keen-sighted users over at XDA Developers have found that a Verizon Pixel 2, that is supposed to have a locked bootloader doesn’t follow the typical trend. In fact, some users have been able to unlock the bootloader of the Verizon Pixel 2. Users are reporting that they have been able to use basic adb reboot bootloader and fastboot commands on the Verizon Pixel 2 without any kind of exploit.

Chances are you purchased the device directly from Google and therefore have an unlocked Pixel 2 already. But, if you picked up the Verizon model and are interested in unlocking the bootloader then it seems you are currently able to do so. Given previous Pixel devices having locked bootloaders, there’s no telling just how long the bootloader will stay open so best to take advantage while you can. Be aware that unlocking your bootloader will void the warranty on the device, but then you probably already knew that.
