The Galaxy S8 Iris Scanner could soon be used for shopping


According to a new report from the Korea Herald, Samsung could be looking at ways of implementing the new Iris Scanner functionality found on the Galaxy S8 into shopping.

Samsung could use the new security measure as a way of authenticating purchases made with online shopping or to authenticate yourself with places such as your bank instead of a fingerprint.

Obviously Iris scanners are a lot more secure than fingerprints so utilizing the technology would be a good move. However, the likelihood of seeing this technology widely adopted is another question. Samsung are said to be exploring these possibilities with South Korean banks, but if it goes well then perhaps companies will begin to embrace it.
